– NLP and otherwise.

About The Position

* Lead on best architectures, best practices, and implementations for end-to-end (from ideation to production and operation) data-science products.
* Developing NLP modules such as NER, POS, entity matching, categorization, text parsers, and more.
* Developing/tuning OCR models and time series prediction models.
* Evaluate technologies, define data pipeline, and processing architectures to allow us to scale machine learning initiatives across April’s products.

Requirements

* At least 5 years experience with data science projects from early-stage concept to production rollouts.
* [Preferred] At least 2 years of experience with NLP in production
* Experience and desire to do end-to-end full-cycle data science
* Previous experience as a Developer/Data Engineer is a significant plus.
* Broad expertise in multiple industries/domains (vs a single field specialist).
* Broad knowledge and experience of data science modeling techniques (from time-series prediction to OCR to RNNs and anything in between) and their use within the industry
* Hands-on experience with data science tooling (TensorFlow, scikit, pyTorch, spacy) and dev environments (PyCharm, Anaconda, yeah Jupyter lab too… But not for production!)
* An all-around data scientist: strong statistics background, strong analytical mindset, experience in experimentation, data visualization, machine learning algorithms, optimization, and big data.
* Experience with Python.
* Experience with SQL
* Advantage: Experience with Cloud Machine Learning Platforms (Google Vertex AI / AWS SageMaker)
* Strong advantage: Kaggle profile

Responsibilities

* Be part of a data-science team where you will lead end-to-end ML projects: from data extraction through model validation & A/B testing to model deploying.
* Discovering and translating business challenges into data pipelines and model frameworks.
* As first DS, Report directly to CTO
* Work closely with Management, Data-Engineering, and Development teams
* Interface with R&D and data engineering to integrate data collection, data quality, and core model output into production systems.

gathering and analyzing information on companies, industries, and
technologies; forming analysis of competitive landscapes as well as customer

Role & Responsibilities

* Fintech Thought Leadership Support – Creating and identifying content and research around thought leadership activities (reports, blogs, etc.) that inform our company building process, partnership initiatives, positioning in the market, and our overall fintech thesis
* Supporting Ideation & Company Building – research problems and opportunities, analyzing competitive landscapes, trends, support development of GTM strategies and deep product reviews and comparison. Perform market research and sizing analysis, and support the identification of early customers, partners, and use-cases.
* Fintech Thesis Development – ongoing development of our fintech thesis and monitoring industry trends. Tracking key industry reports and extracting critical insights to inform the fintech investment team.

Requirements

* Minimum BA in business, finance, accounting, or economics
* Someone who is autodidactic, curious, and hard-working; Analytical, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy
* A team player with a collaborative approach who is also independent, process-driven, and extremely organized
* Someone who likes to read and works well with large amounts of information and data, with a proven ability to distill the essence of the research and articulate the conclusions in a short and accurate manner
* A native English speaker (spoken and written) with strong communication skills, who feels comfortable writing docs and presentations in English
* Able to jump from one topic to another, and go wide or deep depending on the task

Advantages

* Prior experience working in investment banking, strategic consulting, venture capital, or market research firms is a plus
* Prior work experience in the domains of Fintech, Capital Markets, Banking, Wealth Management, Insurance, Credit & Lending, Payments, or Real Estate, etc. is a plus
* Familiarity with common data sources such as Gartner, Pitchbook, Factset, etc.
