We are looking for a Big Data Team Manager.
What does the day to day of Big Data Team Manager at Similarweb look like:
You lead (hands-on) a team of data server developers in the Data Collection
group. The Ingest Team is handling millions of requests per minute, using
hundreds of servers that are consuming billions of events per day deployed on
AWS. Our data pipeline (real-time and offline) is running on cutting edge
technologies such as AWS Kinesis, Airflow, Spark, AWS EMR. We also build,
maintain and develop analytical tools to help us gain insight into our
pipeline flows.
On a day to day, the team you manage will:
* Own and develop end-to-end data ingestion, real-time pipeline, data infrastructure features from design to production
* Solve diverse complex problems of scale, performance and business logic
* Continuously learn and evaluate new technologies in the everlasting effort to perfect our products
* Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health and data quality
In your capacity as a team manager, you will be:
* Lead a growing team of engineers (backend and data) – technical mentoring, personal growth and execution
* Help your team members develop their skills and career path at Similarweb
* Recruit new members to the team
* Tackle tough problems and find creative ways to solve them
* Determine feasibility by performing risk management and evaluating tradeoffs
* Lead decision-making & design of APIs, mechanisms and abstractions
* Write high-quality, functional code – backend and frontend
* Improve your skills, learn from and mentor top-notch engineers and enrich other team members
* Have lots of fun!
What Does The Ideal Candidate Look Like
* B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or a related field
* 4+ years of experience in server-side development with at least one of the languages Python/NodeJs/Scala/Kotlin
* 2+ years of experience in developing code for big data infrastructure. Actual hands-on programming experience using Python/Java/Scala
* Proven experience working with high scale on AWS or any other cloud provider
* 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams
* Experience in architecture and design of large-scale and high performance web production systems
* A “getting-things-done” approach
