The Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) will be a key member of the core
search team at Alexa Shopping. This person will deliver on strategic
analytical projects, define/produce end-to-end metrics that inform product and
risk decisions through data-driven insights and improve data/metric
accessibility for our business.
The ideal candidate relishes working with large volumes of data, enjoys the
challenge of highly complex business contexts, and, above all else, is
passionate about data and analytics. He/she is an expert with business
intelligence tools and passionately partners with the business to identify
strategic opportunities where data-backed insights drive value creation. An
effective communicator, the candidate crisply translates analysis result into
executive-facing business terms. She/he is a self-starter, comfortable with
ambiguity, able to think big (while paying careful attention to detail), and
enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, driven by a desire to innovate and
move fast.
Core Responsibilities
* Retrieve and analyze data using SQL, Excel, and other data management systems
* Define and deliver on complex analytical deep dives to unlock insights that drive business decisions
* Own end-to-end production of metrics reporting that the organization relies on to run the business and monitor its customers
* Act as Subject Matter Expert for anything analytics related to the products domain
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative/technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering).
* 4+ years of relevant experience one of the following areas: data science, data engineering, business intelligence or business analytics.
* Passionate about data with proven experience in finding actionable insights in a large amount of data.
* Expert-level proficiency in writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries across large datasets.
* Demonstrated ability in data modeling, ETL development, and Data warehousing.
* Knowledge of dashboard building using Tableau, AWS Quicksight, OBIEE, MicroStrategy (or similar reporting tool)
* Ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion.
* Knowledge and experience in Descriptive, Predictive, and Prescriptive Analytics investigations.
* Proven ability at looking at solutions in unconventional ways. Sees opportunities to innovate and can lead the way.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, EMR and RDS.
* Knowledge and experience in machine learning methods and tools.
* Experience in BI/DW as a change leader providing strategic research, recommendations, and implementations.
* Previous experience with statistical and/or econometric modeling is a plus.
* Demonstrated experience defining and driving an analytics roadmap.
* Advanced degree in a quantitative/technical field, or MBA.
