Job Description Summary:
Decision scientists in the Global Fraud Risk organization are highly motivated
team players with strong analytical skills who specialize in creating, driving
and executing initiatives to mitigate fraud on PayPal’s platform and improve
the experience for PayPal’s hundreds of millions of customers, while
guaranteeing compliance with regulations. Decision scientists are problem
solvers suited to approach varied challenges in complex big data environments,
collaborating with a wide variety of partners in the company, such as product
experts, data scientists and engineers to bring their analytical insights to
life. Decision scientists deeply understand PayPal’s business objectives, as
their impact on PayPal’s top and bottom lines is immense. As such, they are
required to analyze key performance indicators and track financial and
operational metrics with the aim of adapting PayPal’s advanced proprietary
fraud prevention and experience mechanisms and enabling growth.

Job Description:
In your role as a Lead Decision Scientist, you will:

* Develop and own data-driven risk decision strategies to support PayPal’s global financial business goals
* Plan and execute long-term projects from start to finish
* Drive end-to-end processes with partners across many organizations
* Work with product and platform teams to develop cutting edge, scalable and safe products, to enhance the experience for our global customers
* Utilize bottom-up, story based, innovative techniques to apply analytical know how onto PayPal’s risk strategies
* Measure performance against KPIs and goals
* Maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders and peers across the company and share updates with senior leaders in a clear manner

About You

* Bachelor’s Degree or above in one of the following: economics, finance, engineering, exact sciences, etc. (MBA – an advantage)
* 2+ years of work experience in relevant positions (e.g. Decision scientist, data analyst, statistician, data scientist, FP&A, product/process manager, risk management, army intelligence units)
* Proven analytical skills
* Technical orientation; Experience in SQL / R / Python / other programming language – a must
* Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
* Experience in the Payment Risk domain – an advantage
* Quick-thinker, fast learner, wide general knowledge, problem solver
