Start Up Sales Manager (Individual Contributor)

The SMB team in Israel is looking for the right individual to join the team as
a Startups channel sales manager working directly with Israel’s most
interesting startups, VCs and PEs.

This role is at the center of an exciting new initiative. You will be the
program sales owner of our effort to drive impact by working with top tier
venture capital and private equity firms. You will drive the program with
these important partners and engage directly in a business development
capacity to ensure these firms maximize their relationship with Microsoft. To
be successful you must have deep understanding of the venture capital and
private equity market, the startup and technology industry generally and a
strong desire to stay informed on key market developments. You will be part of
a v-team of key business partners across Microsoft to ensure we maximize the
impact for Microsoft within the portfolios of target venture capital and
private equity firms.

Responsibilities

* Drive the overall VC/PE program to support the Early-stage Startups segment
* Drive the data and analytics strategy to track key VC and PE firms and the activity within their underlying portfolio companies
* Develop strategic programs and offerings to ensure we are maximizing our impact and generating opportunities from targeted VC and PE firms
* Work with the v-team to ensure there is a one Microsoft strategy and approach to key VC and PE firms and we are engaging with “must win” startups
* Develop, lead and coordinate the ROB and pipeline reviews to ensure we are maintaining an appropriate rhythm with our v-team and driving targeted levels of opportunity flow
* Prepare presentations and analyses to support decision making and executive reviews
* Incubate and execute on strategic cross functional programs to support the VC/PE program and support a wide range of cross functional projects with v-team members to improve the program and drive cross Microsoft collaboration
* Stay informed on key market development and provide strategic viewpoints and recommendations for senior leaders and v-team members
* Customer Advocacy and Market Thought Leadership: The individual should possess deep business insights into the VC/PE market dynamics and demonstrate strategy leadership in the formulation of a robust business plan working in alignment with key business partners to deliver short term results and build a foundation for long term sustained success. The individual should leverage their market insights on customer preferences, competitive dynamics, and digital maturity to execute relevant and timely program strategies and tactics.
* Facilitates collaboration across a v-team of internal cross-functional stakeholders across a multi-matrixed business. Sets expectations that support alignment on business plans within market.

Qualifications

The successful candidate has deep interest in the startup and technology
industry, the venture capital and private equity space and proven track record
in measurable impact roles (incl. business development and sales).
Specifically, this highly visible and strategic role, requires a candidate who
possesses the following characteristics:

* Ability to set and drive strategy and translate strategy into concrete actions and marketing/sales motions that deliver measurable impact
* Excellent business judgment and results across a range of disciplines including sales, marketing, finance and complex deal negotiations
* Ability to effectively drive cross-group collaboration, using project management, impact and influence, as well as communication skills
* Proven ability to manage relationships and drive business development/sales outcomes with customers and partners
* Effective at managing and thriving in ambiguous situations
* Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with peers, leadership, customers, and partners. This includes expressing empathy and compassion when dealing with the needs and problems of others, being approachable, taking time to address the concerns of coworkers, and treating others with respect and dignity.
